I accidently downloaded an adware program that seems to be some type of virus, it’s called System Security Version 4.52.? I keep getting popups and warning? messages on my screen. I know this is some type of virus so how can I remove it?
My taskbar at the bottom of the screen? (by the clock in the lower right hand
corner) has the logo. It’s a small shield with yellow and orange stripes. I
cannot access my Add/Remove programs to uninstall. Please advise. Thanks
I know I’m stating the obvious when I say how viruses or programs that install themselves on your computers annoy me, but the ones that make it more difficult take the cake.? I envy their resilience and determination to stay on the machine to continue corrupting it even further, it becomes a big pain after a couple cute attempts to get rid of it.
System Security Version 4.52 is an application that uses Trojans and? dirty friends to trick you to believe it is a useful and safe program.? As you’ve found, System Security is dangerous for you and your PC so remove it as soon as possible
In your case, lets try another program that will help remove System Security Version 4.52.? I like to sit back and grab a beverage to watch this program giving me a sense of pride as the files are wiped away from my machine.
I’d like you to start by downloading the program: Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. I consider this one of my favorite programs on my PC as it helps destroy these stubborn infections that refuse to go!
Please download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately
This should get you free from the bind of the System Security.? Post back with your success for other members to see how it turned out for you.? I highly recommend more caution when browsing around and downloading cleaners that promise a clean computer or anti-virus protection.? A quick Google of the name can show you other thoughts or recommendations on installing these programs!

5You have to run it in Safe Mode. Restart your computer and keep hitting F8. This will prompt your computer to go into safe mode.

6I have this virus and have been working on removing it for a few hours now. when i tried to work on it in safe mode the virus was not removed even after running malwarebytes anti-malware in safe mode. What has gotten further than anything else so far is to restart the computer in it’s normal mode and immediately before any process has a chance to start hit Alt-Ctrl-Delete and arrange the processes by name. Then delete the top one which should be some long number without a letter. Then quickly start windows defender, Malwarebytes, Spyware doctor, or whatever spyware protection program you have on your computer. For me i used spyware doctor first just to see if i could get in the door but found when it came to removing the viruses it asks me to purchase the full version. So now that systemsecurity has not been able to start i can open another program such as malwarebytes and get rid of this horrible virus.
Now if you don’t have a spyware removal program already installed on your computer and you do have the virus affecting your system go into safe mode by hitting F8 immediately after restarting your computer. it will ask you what mode you would like to start the computer in, select safe mode with networking and continue. This will allow you to safely go on the internet and download a program. if it does not allow you to run it save it to a spot where you can find it again and restart your computer in normal safe mode where you can fully run the installation. Then restart the computer again (i know this is tedious but it works when so many other things don’t) and complete the process i gave in my first paragraph.
I hope this helps someone else, i know it helped me!

7Sarah’s way to stop the process was a godsend. After, first running Spyware Doctor i tried to restart and found that most of the virus was intact. Next, I attempted Avast antivirus and after it discovered a virus running in memory, It prompted for a boot-scan and i let it run one. After about 3 hours it finished and i booted up and prepared to stop the numbered process but found that it never loaded. I’m now going to check safe mode and try to run a few other anti-spyware programs to see if they spot anything.
So far it’s looking a lot better and I hope something i said can be of use.
Thanks for the help Sarah!

8Sarah’s method was the only way of having a break from “System Security Version 4.52”. This program is so evil that even disables keys from the keyboard! I was ready to wipe the hard disk clean when I read the posting of Sarah and decided to give it a try. You have very little time to use Ctrl Alt Del before the SSV4.52 disables the control keys, but once you delete it from the running processes, there is plenty of time to install Malwarebytes.com and this program gets rid of SSV4.52
Great find, Sarah! Much appreciated!

9This really helped, although System Security never gave me enough time to delete the process through Task Manager, so I combined these instructions with the following, which I found on another website:
“First, go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data, and find the folder with numbers as its name – that?s usually the System Security corrupt folder. In other words, you should try to find System Security 4.52 folder in your system – as a rule, it?s marked with a shield icon and is numbered. Then, after you find that foder, just rename the shield file and the numbered folder to 2222. This should prevent System Security 4.52 scam from blocking antivirus tools. After System Security fraud is temporarily disabled, intall the removal tool above and let it handle the infection. It should work!”
After changing the file and folder names, I restarted and System Security did not load at all, which gave me a chance to install and run the anti-malware program.

10Hey guys I’ve also encountered problems with system security. How it got onto my computer I have no idea. The information on this page for its removal was very helpful. I followed what they did and it worked. So if you’re having problems I’d suggest doing the same. If it wasn’t for Sarah’s tip to run task manager and end system securities process I’d probably still be stuck with the damn thing. I had spyware terminator and it failed to remove the problem. Malwarebytes’ Anti-malware worked great. This is what I did:
1) start windows normally, run task manager, sort processes by name, end top process (a bunch of numbers with no letters)
2) restart and enter safe mode (F8)..download Malwarebytes’ Anti-malware, install and update. Then run quickscan, remove all objects, restart if necessary.
This ridded my computer of the innoying system security. Thanks everyone for the help!

18This is one nasty program (system security 4.52) Malwarebytes did it for me by following Sarah’s instructions. Thank you Sarah.
Your PC needs to go into safe mode then run Malwarebytes.
Thanks to you all

19Sarah’s way worked for me as well. Sometimes it is that easy!
But beware some of the other website’s removal instructions as they are very complicated and involve downloading even more to your hard drive.
CTRL+ALT+DEL and Malwarebytes works.
And let this be a lesson for the future, folks! Once you’re back in business, download and install the top 4 or 5 malware/spyware programs on your hard drive and keep them updated! Since I already had the free program from Malwarebytes it was a snap to rid my computer of this nasty.

20I want to thank the person providing this information and tell the world this program works. I was able to download the program from the link on this website and then restart the computer in safe mode (by pressing f8 while it was turning on) and install it there. I followed the instructions and when I restarted the computer it was all better!

21I installed Malwarebytes? Anti-Malware and ran it in safe mode. The program appeared to remove all the malicious files and the program no longer loads up if I am not connected to the internet. However if I connect to the internet a blue screen appears filled which is not readable because whatever marks appear are not audible, the computer then proceeds to restart itself. While restarting i boot up in Safemode and get a message saying windows was forced to shutdown. No idea if this is somehow related to Security 4.52 or not.
