Making your computer faster is easy and quick to do.? Most operating systems have built in tools that you can use to regularly speed up your PC.

If you want a faster computer, try to use the following steps and you will notice better performance from your machine.

1) The first step is removing any malware or spyware that is slowing down your PC.? You can use the forums here as a great place to start.? One of the tips I recommend is running some good generic scans on the computer to see if you are infected.

Please download Malwarebytes? Anti-Malware and install it to your computer.? Run a full scan and remove anything it comes up with.? To be extra certain, you can check with the experts on the forum to be sure you are?absolutely clean.

Spyware is the number one reason computers run slow as they hog up system resources!

2) Clear some old data out.? Using Disk Clean Up (Built into Windows) is a great way to remove old files from the Recycling bin, temporary internet folders, temporary downloads…etc.

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, then click Disk Cleanup.? (Be sure you check only the folders and files you want to clear.? Its better to ask on the forums about something rather than checking and deleting it.

3) Sort out some files.? Use Disk Defrag to sort your files for you!? Think about the old file cabinet that you haven’t touched…wouldn’t it be much easier to find things if it was all sorted for you?

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter.? The defragmenter will put files where they should be on the hard drive automatically.? This does not mean that your personal files will be sorted or changed but mostly system files that have been downloaded and updated over time.

4) Remove data off hard drives.? Sort through your old files on your computer (personal only that is) and delete it from the hard drive if you no longer use it.? Do not go into any other folders but your personal folder and as always you should empty the recycling bin after to remove it entirely from the PC.? An external hard drive is a great option to clear space AND keep your files.

If you follow these steps, you should have your PC running in tip top shape within a matter of a few hours.
